The capital of the state is Agartala; the airport here is served by flights from Kolkata, Guwahati and Silchar. There are also airports at Kailashahar and Kamalpur. The nearest railway station is Dharmanagar, 200 km away. Agartala is connected by road to major cities in the northeastern region.

The temperature in summer ranges from 35oC to 24oC; in winter from 27oC to 13oC. The monsoons bring torrential rains from June to August.

Best time to visit from September to March, but an entry permit is required.
